Sorry for the lapse in updates. I have only sporadic connection to wireless at the apartment and am obviously busy at the hospital. First things first. I would like to thank all of you for your continued prayers. They appear to be working well so far. God is so great! I certainly have no problems with anyone passing on brief information about our situation to prayer groups, friends who pray, etc. However, I would like to remind everyone that even though it is so awesome to have triplets and I could not be more proud of them as a mother, I do wish to maintain a certain level of privacy for us and certainly for them. All that said please be mindful of what you say and what information gets passed along. Please think of them as your own and how you would protect them. If you have anything you would like to share with others please inquire before doing so. We don't want our children to look back later and wonder why we had to share so much personal information with people they don't even know. Nor do I want to be in the center of attentions like Jon & Kate or the Octomom. Thank you all so much for understanding.
Brief recap of yesterday. Ryan still going back and forth from CPAP to nasal oxygen and doing well. He is not getting feedings at this time but did kindly save his first poop for the first diaper his mother had to change. Aparently he didn't get the memo that it was supposed to be for his dad! His belly has been pretty swollen but they say it is starting to look better on xray. Tyler is still on the ventilator and had somewhat of a stressful day. His PICC line quit working and so they started running his IV fluids through a regular IV in his other hand while they waited for the new PICC line to be inserted. In the mean time the IV started leaking and could no longer be used so they had to start a new IV also. He spent a lot of his afternoon sedated because of the new PICC line insertion. He still looked so peaceful. Emily did very well, I didn't spend to much time with her today but know she did get more blood and rested well most of the day. She is still doing very well breathing on her CPAP.
Today: Ryan did very well on nasal cannula oxygen and was able to spend about 2 hours this afternoon with no oxygen at all. He did get tired so they gave him some oxygen back and he will alternate every 4 hours. He is still not getting feedings but his belly is looking much better today, they are hoping to be able to restart feedings tomorrow. Rusty came up tonight and I was able to hold Ryan briefly while they changed his bedding, then Rusty was able to change his very first diaper ever! Of course like I said earlier, Ryan didn't get the message about saving poop for dad so it was just a wet one. He is also off of his bili light so he is able to have his eyes uncovered. It was so great to see his beautiful face! His PICC line also quit working today and he had to have a new one placed. Tyler did well with his ventilator settings today and they were able to decrease his rate several times today. They hope to try him on CPAP soon if his lungs can tolerate it. He is currently on antibotics for pneumonia so it may still be a while. Emily had a good day as well. I was able to do a lot of her care today and changed several diapers. She was a good girl and was off of her oxygen completely this afternoon and did very well. They are going to change her back and forth between CPAP and no oxygen every 4 hours. Her feedings started back at 8:00 tonight. We are making some progress! The babies were all so excited to see their dad today and can't wait until he is back this weekend! Hope this catches everyone up. I am going to cross my fingers and hope this posts. If I still have signal I will try to do some pictures later.
